What I want to say today will be different tomorrow

Elaine Fisher is an artist-researcher based in Liverpool working with assemblage. Through a playful practice that foregrounds lived experience, she transforms discarded materials into new constructions that seemingly embody the curious encounters that skirt around them. Re-cycling through sculpture, textiles, photography, print, wordplay and site-specific installation, each work re-asserts its own logic through time, continuously challenging and re-placing what has come before.

Elaine received her MA in Fine Art from the University of Gloucestershire in 2015 following a career as a Museum Curator. She continues her subjective research independently and collaboratively through studio work and residencies/exhibitions including MEANTIME (2014), B-side Festival (2016), SLUICE Exchange, Berlin (2018), The Writers’ Room, London (2024) and with Harvest and Gather in La Jolla, San Diego (2025). In 2022 she was invited to exhibit her Domestic Structures series as a solo exhibition – Repartea, a dinner-party styled installation – at Project 1628 in Baltimore. Group exhibitions include Falling faintly faintly falling at Finch Gallery London (2026), Rose is a rose is a rose at 57W57 Arts in NYC (2025), Fibres at AIR Gallery, Manchester (2023) and Flat Files at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Baltimore (2020 and 2021). Publications include W’R01, Journal of the Writers Room (2025) and We are Moving, MEANTIME (2016). In 2024 Elaine was nominated for a Castlefield Gallery Award for her entry, Anne’s Cleavage, in the Manchester Open Exhibition at HOME. Her work is held in private and gallery collections including the Athenaeum Music and Arts Library, La Jolla, San Diego, where Reading Womb was collected following exhibition. Her current work explores growth through patterning and relationship, a reciprocal colonialism that reflects on the singular and multiple experience/s of being within and beyond a body.
